As of September 13, 2026, Holland has topped the ranking of Hollywood's highest-grossing actors. Previously, the first place was held by Zoe Saldaña, who reached the top of the list in January after the success of the film 'Avatar: Fire and Ash'. Before her, the record belonged to Scarlett Johansson, and even earlier — to Samuel L. Jackson, writes Variety.
The most successful step in Tom Holland's acting career was the role of Spider-Man. The English actor, who returned to this popular character in the film 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day', significantly increased his box office figures thanks to the film's success. His first collaboration with director Christopher Nolan, the film 'The Odyssey', further added to his results.
As a result, Holland now has approximately $15.5 billion in cumulative worldwide box office revenue from his films. 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' added more than $2.4 billion to this result, and Nolan's 'The Odyssey' contributed another approximately $1.4 billion.
The total box office gross of films starring Saldaña exceeds $15.4 billion. She has starred in four films, each of which grossed over $2 billion worldwide.
Thus, the 30-year-old Holland became the youngest actor to top this ranking. Moreover, he needed significantly fewer films than many of his competitors.
Both of Holland's films, released in 2026, are still showing in cinemas, so his result may increase further. This gives him a good chance to remain in first place for quite a while. Zoe Saldaña or Scarlett Johansson can only reclaim the lead with significant success from their next films.
But Holland already has several new projects. Among them is a currently unnamed biographical film about Fred Astaire, directed by Paul King. Holland will also not only star in but also produce the film adaptation of John Grisham's novel 'The Partner'.
In addition, the actor will appear in the film 'American Speed', where he and Austin Butler will play brothers involved in car racing. Details about his further appearances in Marvel Cinematic Universe films have not yet been revealed.
