In Babruisk, on the eve of the anniversary of the launch of urban electric transport, a monument to the Soviet trolleybus ZiU-682 was installed. It was precisely such machines that once began to transport Babruisk residents, and now one of the restored trolleybuses has become a city attraction.
The monument appeared near the final stop "Yaloviki" on Minskaya Street. The place was chosen not by chance: it was from here that the first Babruisk trolleybus departed on its inaugural journey on August 30, 1978.
“The location was chosen not by chance: it was from this stop that the first urban electric transport began its route 48 years ago,” Mikhail Kalyayev, chief engineer of the Babruisk trolleybus depot, told “SB”.
For the monument, a ZiU-682 was chosen — one of the most mass-produced models of Soviet trolleybuses. Before taking its place on the pedestal, the machine underwent restoration — from body repair to a new paint job.
Today, over 40 trolleybuses operate in Babruisk on four urban routes.
