The owner of the well-known Minsk craft bakery LЁN announced that they will be forced to close down and sell off equipment.
The reason is the unilateral termination of the lease agreement for the premises at Rakauskaya 25/1, where the cafe and production (the bakery supplied pastries to other locations as well) were located.
“We could not imagine that one day we would have to write something like this. The lease agreement with our company has been unilaterally terminated, and we are forced to vacate the premises and cease operations within the shortest possible time.
For five months, we fought in court for our right to continue working in this location, as it is not only our cafe but also our production facility, and the termination of the contract essentially means the loss of the company. Unfortunately, yesterday we lost the appeal,” said LЁN owner Alena Kazlouskaya on Instagram.

“We have decided that further struggle does not align with the goals for which this project was created. We will be open until June 21st inclusive and welcome everyone to visit. You can help by informing anyone who might be interested about the sale of our equipment.”

In April, the bakery on Rakauskaya celebrated its fifth anniversary. During this time, it became a popular spot not only for Minsk residents, who would travel here for fresh pastries even from the other end of the city, but also for tourists. Here one could have a hearty breakfast and taste a variety of desserts — from Portuguese pastéis to Italian panettone and French croissants or quiches. LЁN also baked its own bread.
Regular visitors of "LЁN" still don't believe the bad news and are asking for it to reopen elsewhere.
“I can’t imagine Minsk without LЁN. For me, this place is like the soul of the city”; “Your bakery became a second home for us, it was very warm and cozy there,” comments multiply under the post about the closure.
However, at the moment, the cafe owners do not consider it expedient to move the business to another location.
