RIA Novosti removed an article about war with Lithuania. Because it "does not conform to state policy"
A column by Alexander Nasovich, a member of the Russian Council on Foreign and Defense Policy, stating that Russia awaits another "SMO," namely a war with Lithuania, was published this morning.
The material discussed the potential for Lithuania to deploy nuclear weapons on its territory and how Russia should respond to it. According to the author, in such a case, Russia might forgo introducing ground troops and immediately launch a missile strike with an appropriate warhead.
"It cannot be said that Russia has no choice at all. Russia has a choice: how to fight. It's not even about whether it will be long or fast. It's clear that it will be fast: a military conflict in the Baltic states, simply due to geography, cannot be the same as in Ukraine," Nasovich believes.
Other media outlets noticed the publication and wrote about it. Soon, the column was removed from the RIA Novosti website.
Initially, a 404 error page opened, and later the publication decided to explain the material's removal.
"The article by freelance author Alexander Nasovich was removed from ria.ru because it does not conform to the editorial opinion, editorial policy, and state policy of the Russian Federation," the message now states.
