In Croatia, Two Prices for One Dish Will Appear on Restaurant Menus
The current price and the one that was available some time ago.

From October 1, Croatian restaurants and cafes will have to indicate another price next to the current one — the so-called "anchor" price. This is the price that was valid for the same dish or drink on September 10, 2026. The new rule is enshrined in a decision by the Croatian government, writes Bild.
For example, if coffee now costs €4, the price that was valid on September 10 must be indicated next to it. The customer will only pay the current price, while the second figure is needed for comparison and should show the price change.
The requirement applies not only to printed menus: two prices will also have to be indicated on establishment websites and on outdoor advertising signs where food and drink prices are listed.
Fines are provided for violations. In some cases, they can reach almost €2,000, and for some companies — up to €27,000.
Croatian restaurateurs are already criticizing the innovation. Franz Letica, head of the Zagreb Restaurateurs Association, stated that two prices could confuse visitors and lead to "curious scenes" at tables.
