Pashinyan: If they want to exclude Armenia from CSTO, let them. There's no need to threaten with this
The Prime Minister of Armenia also noted that his country has never raised the issue of the Russian military base.
If they want to exclude Armenia from the CSTO, let them, the republic should not be threatened with this, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan told reporters, as reported by news.am.
The politician pointed out that Armenia is expected to behave in a manner similar to that described in the Armenian fairy tale "The Death of Kikos".
«It's also interesting that there are clichés regarding the opinion that Armenia should have a certain stance — mainly following the logic of the death of Kikos: a man went to get married, he had a son, named him Kikos, put a pompom hat on him, [it] fell off his head, he fell on a stone — oh, Kikos, oh, my son. If they want to exclude us — let them exclude us. If they don't want to exclude us — let them not exclude us,» Pashinyan said.
According to him, Armenia has also never raised the issue of the Russian military base.
«Now Russia has raised this issue, and we are taking a position on it,» the Armenian Prime Minister noted.
At the same time, he noted that the base is not vital for Armenia's security: «We don't need this military base. Russia is a friendly country to us. If they want to remove it, let them remove it, let them remove it tomorrow. If they want to stay, we are ready to discuss the terms of maintaining the base, which we do not need, in the Republic of Armenia.» He explained this position by «the events of September 2022».
