A fire broke out at the pyrolysis unit at the construction site of the Amur Gas Chemical Complex in the Amur region of Russia after an explosion.
The facility was in commissioning mode. It was intended to produce ethylene and propylene.
Specialists are urgently shutting down equipment, and workers are being evacuated from the complex. The company's press service assures that there is no threat to residents of neighboring settlements.
According to preliminary data from Russian media, at least two people were injured in the explosion. The exact scale of damage and the causes of the incident are still being investigated.
Amur GCC is one of the world's largest polymer production projects. The project is being implemented by the Russian holding SIBUR jointly with the Chinese company Sinopec.
