A Belarusian woman went into a shopping center toilet and saw cameras there
Video surveillance cameras were installed in the women's restroom of one of the shopping centers. However, their owner claimed that these were just dummy cameras intended to simply remind visitors about the need to maintain order, the National Center for Personal Data Protection reported .
Even cameras that are allegedly not working create the impression among visitors that they are being video monitored and that personal data is being processed.
Following a complaint, the National Center for Personal Data Protection responded to the situation and drew the operator's attention to the fact that placing such "dummies" misleads citizens about the legality of video surveillance and violates their right to privacy.
As a result, at the Center's request, all "cameras" were removed from the shopping center's restrooms.
