Relatives identified bodies of climbers killed in Kyrgyzstan

Relatives have identified the bodies of two climbers who died during an ascent of Peak Kurumdy in Kyrgyzstan. The bodies were brought down from the mountains and delivered to the morgue in the city of Osh, Sputnik reports .

One of the deceased is Maksim Palyanski, a 43-year-old citizen of Belarus, and the other is Siarhei Rubtsou, a 37-year-old citizen of Lithuania. After identification, their bodies are planned to be sent to their home countries.

The body of the third group member, 60-year-old Belarusian Mikalai Svirydau, currently remains in the mountains. His search has been suspended because further rescue operations became too dangerous for the rescuers themselves.

The group, which included two Belarusians and a Lithuanian climber, stopped communicating on August 4 after ascending Peak Kurumdy, which has a height of 6612.5 meters.

Ascending this peak is classified as the highest category of difficulty and requires serious physical and technical training from climbers. Kurumdy was first conquered only in 2001 after several unsuccessful attempts.
