A road accident involving a 19-year-old cyclist from Belarus occurred in the Italian commune of Vertova, in the province of Bergamo, Lombardy region. This was reported by the website "Belarusians and the World".

The accident occurred on Wednesday, August 26, around 11:00 AM on state highway SS 671 near a roundabout not far from the local football field.
According to preliminary data, before the roundabout, the cyclist overtook a column of several cars and drove into the oncoming lane, where he encountered a van driven by a 20-year-old resident of the commune of Gazzaniga. The impact was strong.
The injured person was given first aid on the spot and then transported by medical helicopter in serious condition to a hospital in Bergamo. Fortunately, according to preliminary data, the injuries sustained by the Belarusian are not life-threatening.
