Belarusian grew a giant watermelon weighing 42 kg and held its tasting
A Belarusian named Viktor grew an unusually large watermelon on his plot — its weight was a whopping 42 kilograms, writes Tochka.by.

To weigh such a fruit, the man had to devise a special construction. He wrapped the watermelon in a net and hooked it to the hook of a steelyard scale. Lifting the watermelon off the ground was not easy, but in the end, the scales showed 42 kg.

Viktor said he waited a whole week for an assistant who could film the process. The giant fruit grew from seeds of the "Deraya" variety of Japanese breeding, which belongs to competitive varieties focused on producing very large fruits. The man noted that Belarusian gardeners are also capable of growing such giants.
After weighing, Viktor decided to check not only the size of the watermelon but also its taste. When he cut the fruit, the pulp inside was not bright red, but pale pink, and the seeds were white.
However, the appearance did not disappoint the owner. Viktor cut a piece, tasted it, and declared that the watermelon was very sweet. According to him, one of the reasons for the good taste was that the plant grew on its own roots, without grafting.
