Circumstances of the road's demolition near the "Three Sisters" monument at the border of Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine in 2023 have become known
The demolition occurred on Ukrainian territory, 75 meters from the border with Belarus.

New circumstances were established thanks to photographs that came into the possession of "Flagstock".
They capture the preparation and the moment of the road's demolition near the "Three Sisters" monument at the border of Ukraine, Belarus, and Russia. The photos were provided by a representative of the Ukrainian side in connection with "Flagstock's" publication of satellite images of border objects.
The demolition occurred on May 30, 2023, on Ukrainian territory, 75 meters from the border with Belarus. Russian servicemen then blew up a section of the Chernihiv — Bryansk road. This was reported by the Ukrainian State Border Guard Service, which recorded the explosion in the area where the borders of the three states meet.
A video of the explosion was published by Russian Z-military correspondents. They claimed that the road was destroyed with an aerial bomb in a "tank-dangerous direction" to prevent the possible advance of Ukrainian units towards the Bryansk region.
Until now, it was impossible to precisely determine the method of demolition from the published footage.

The photographs published by "Flagstock" allow clarifying the circumstances of the operation. The images show the preparation of the road for demolition — the transfer of long, heavy charges from the Russian checkpoint, the return of soldiers from Ukrainian territory, and the results of the demolition.

The explosive charge was laid in a pipe under the road, after which an explosion occurred. The demolition resulted in a wide, sloping ditch, which would hardly have been a serious obstacle for tracked vehicles.
The demolition occurred a few days after a raid by Russian volunteer formations into the Belgorod region. Russian authorities at that time reported the penetration of Ukrainian sabotage groups into their territory.

Moreover, the site of the demolition holds special symbolic significance. The "Three Sisters" monument was erected in 1975 at the junction of the borders of Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine as a symbol of "friendship of peoples". In April 2019, Belarus allocated about 2 million rubles for the monument's repair and the improvement of the adjacent territory. In particular, three paths with national ornaments of Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine were laid.
In April 2022, already after the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the then Mayor of Chernihiv, Vladyslav Atroshenko, stated the necessity of dismantling the Ukrainian part of the monument after the Russian invasion from Belarusian territory.
Following Atroshenko's statement, Belarusian propaganda launched a campaign against him. His demand for the dismantling of the Ukrainian part of the monument was presented as another attack on the symbol of "friendship" between Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine.
A year after this campaign, Russian servicemen themselves destroyed the road directly near the monument — and did so intentionally, having previously laid a charge under the roadbed.
The resulting destruction proved to be a much more real blow to the monumental complex "Three Sisters" than the statements by the Ukrainian mayor about dismantling the monument.
