One of the pilots tried to crash the plane, the other prevented it. Dramatic events on board a flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv
Flight FZ1073, which was flying from Dubai to Tel Aviv today, turned back while flying over Jordan. A few minutes after activating the distress code, the plane changed direction again. Israeli Air Force fighter jets were scrambled to the aircraft.
The incident occurred on the morning of September 30 on flydubai flight FZ1073 from Dubai to Tel Aviv. There were 174 passengers on board the Boeing 737 MAX 8, mostly Israelis.
Media are now investigating what happened.
Due to a fight, the crew transmitted the code used during a plane hijacking, and Israel scrambled fighter jets.
Another version has emerged — one of the pilots may have tried to crash the plane. Israeli Channel 14 claims that one of the pilots might have tried to commit suicide and put the plane into a dive, and the second pilot stopped him by force.
A passenger on the plane told the media that one of the crew members stabbed the pilot and disabled the aircraft's systems. Passengers stormed the cockpit and neutralized him.
“By a lucky coincidence, there were two other pilots on board who landed the plane,” the Telegram channel “Israeli Working Days” quoted him as saying.

“It felt like a terrorist attack right during the flight. We thought we were going to crash. For a few minutes, we thought: either we crash, or we get stabbed,” another passenger said.
Today, during a flight over Jordan, flydubai flight FZ1073 from Dubai to Tel Aviv first transmitted the general emergency code 7700, and then code 7500. The latter indicates unlawful interference with aircraft control and is typically used during a hijacking attempt.
The aircraft sharply descended to approximately 15,000 feet, turned around, and headed for Saudi Arabia. Communication with the crew was lost for a period.
Israel scrambled two fighter jets and temporarily suspended departures from Ben Gurion Airport. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and heads of security agencies held an urgent meeting.
The plane landed safely at a Saudi airport. The airline confirmed that all passengers and crew members are safe. Another plane is to depart to pick them up and transport them to Israel.
The official reasons for the incident have not been disclosed.
