It became known how the renovated Valadarka will look from the inside PHOTOS
The reconstruction of Pishchalovsky Castle, the building of the former pre-trial detention center No. 1 on Valadarskaha Street in the center of Minsk, is planned to be completed in 2027. For the first time, the "Minsk-News" agency published renders of how the interior spaces will look after the renovation.

The main goal of the announced works is to bring the building as close as possible to its original appearance. The facade will be restored to its ocher hue, which it had about 200 years ago; decorative belts and cornices will be restored. The wrought-iron staircase will be preserved and restored. The spiral staircase in one of the towers, from which a view of Minsk opens, will also be restored.
Currently, builders are preparing the building for the main stage of reconstruction: strengthening the foundation and external walls, shoring up the ceilings. After this, all partitions inside the castle will be dismantled, leaving only the building's framework.
Food halls are planned to be located on the first two floors. The partitions that previously separated the cells will be removed there. Builders note that originally these walls were also absent — there were large halls inside.
The fourth tower of the castle, which collapsed in 2008, will also be fully restored.

Pishchalovsky Castle itself will be reconstructed at the final stage. Before that, they plan to complete the restoration of the single-story stable, which is effectively being rebuilt from scratch. Works there are already nearing completion, after which a cafe will open in the building. Then the reconstruction of the former administration building will begin.

Overall, the project involves several stages. In the first stage, unsightly buildings without historical value were demolished. The second stage is currently underway. In the third stage, the castle itself will be addressed. After the completion of the reconstruction, the wall around the territory will also be removed. Previously, it was part of the prison fence, and now it is used to restrict access to the construction site. After its dismantling, the castle territory will become an open space.

Pishchalovsky Castle was built in the center of Minsk in 1825 as a prison. For almost 200 years, it was used as a penitentiary institution. Since the 1940s, Pre-Trial Detention Center No. 1, popularly known as Valadarka – after Valadarskaha Street – was located here. It was one of the most famous prison institutions in Belarus. In 2024, the isolation ward was disbanded, and its functions were transferred to Kalyadzichy.
After the reconstruction, various organizations and commercial projects are planned to be housed in the castle. Among the announced brands are "Minatel", "Aqua-Minsk", "Belkoopsoyuz", "Stolitsa" business center, "Stolitsa" shopping center, and "Kommunarka".
