Memory of Lokomotiv Hockey Players Who Died 15 Years Ago Honored in Minsk

On September 7, 2011, a Yak-42D plane carrying the hockey players and coaching staff of the local Lokomotiv team, en route to a match in Minsk against Dinamo, crashed near Yaroslavl. Among the deceased were three Belarusians: Ruslan Salei, Siarhei Astapchuk, and fitness coach Mikalai Krivonosov.

Traditionally, on this day, fans, federation representatives, and hockey players lay flowers at a temporary memorial installed near "Minsk-Arena," writes Onliner.by.

Dinamo players, along with their coaching and administrative staff, also laid flowers at the monument.

Flowers are also brought to the cemeteries where the hockey players are buried. In particular, to the Eastern Cemetery, where Ruslan Salei rests.

Flowers are also brought to Kalvaryja Cemetery. Here lie the graves of Siarhei Astapchuk and Mikalai Krivonosov.

In that plane crash, 44 people died. There were 27 hockey players on board. One of them — Alexander Galimov — survived, was hospitalized, but died five days later in the hospital.
