Secondary School No. 7 in Navahrudak has been named after the famous Belarusian artist Yazep Drazdovich. A solemn event on this occasion took place on September 17, writes the local district newspaper "Novaye Zhytstsyu" (New Life).

As the school principal Alena Kazak explained, it was not easy to name the educational institution after the artist. Since Yazep Drazdovich had no children, finding his descendants proved difficult, and it is supposedly not allowed to name objects without their consent.
Employees of the Drazdovich Art and Ethnographic Museum in Sharkawshchyna District helped to find out that the artist has a distant relative who works in the Hlybokaye forestry. The principal found him and obtained consent for the school to be named after Drazdovich.
Yazep Drazdovich (1888-1954) was an artist, ethnographer, and writer. He was born in the village of Punki, in what is now Hlybokaye District, studied at the Vilna Drawing School, traveled extensively throughout Belarus, sketching architecture, everyday life, and landscapes.
From 1927 to 1929, Yazep Drazdovich taught drawing at the Navahrudak Belarusian Gymnasium. In addition, he created a series of works dedicated to the Navahrudak region.
A special place in his creative legacy is occupied by fantastic paintings dedicated to space and planets.
