Estonia has banned the transit of Russian and Belarusian grain through its territory. This was announced by the country's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Margus Tsahkna, in a microblog on X on Thursday, October 1.

"Russia attacks Ukrainian ports, blocks grain exports from Ukraine, and then looks for new routes for its own grain. Estonia will not provide it with such a route," the post said.
The diplomat reminded that earlier in September he warned that "plans for transporting Russian grain through Estonia should not be made."
"And today we have turned it into law," Tsahkna summarized.
Today, Estonia banned the transit of Russian and Belarusian grain through our territory.
Russia attacks Ukrainian ports, blocks Ukraine’s grain exports and then looks for new routes for its own grain. Estonia will not provide one.
I warned already in September: do not make plans to transport Russian grain through Estonia. Today, we turned that warning into law.
Together with Latvia and Lithuania, we are working to ensure that Baltic ports do not become a transit route for Russia.
Russia cannot wage a war of aggression and expect us to help keep its trade flowing. We will not help finance its war or make its aggression easier to sustain.
The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs added that Estonia, along with Lithuania and Latvia, is working to "ensure that Baltic ports are not used as transit routes for Russia."
"Russia cannot wage an aggressive war and expect us to help it maintain its trade flows. We will not help finance its war and make it easier for it to continue its aggression," the Foreign Minister stated.
