"Did Trump shut down YouTube in America? No." Information Minister commented on the possibility of blocking YouTube in Belarus
Belarusian Information Minister Dzmitry Zhuk, in an interview on the "Club of Editors" program on the "Belarus 1" TV channel, commented on the possibility of blocking YouTube in Belarus in response to new removals of channels belonging to Belarusian propagandists.

According to Zhuk, several points are important to consider in this situation. He stated that, in his opinion, Belarus is being provoked into certain actions, and it would be a "big mistake" to do what it is being pushed to do.
"The first aspect we need to understand is that we are being provoked into certain steps. And it would be the biggest mistake to succumb to the provocation and take the steps we are being provoked into," says Dzmitry Zhuk.
The minister called YouTube an "unfriendly platform" and stated that he considers the platform's actions, from a legal and other points of view, to be "pure piracy."
At the same time, Zhuk noted that Belarusian state media have allegedly learned to operate in such conditions and maintain their audience. According to him, decisions regarding the information sphere should be made based on the interests of the state and the needs of society, and not under the pressure of external circumstances.
Speaking about blocking and content removal, Zhuk cited US President Donald Trump as an example. He recalled that YouTube deleted Trump's channel, after which significant funds were recovered from the platform in a lawsuit.
"Did Trump shut down YouTube in America? No," said the minister.
Earlier, in a similar vein, Dzmitry Zhuk commented on the possibility of blocking YouTube in Belarus in April, shortly after his appointment.
