Ukrainians destroyed Russian strategic bomber at an airfield in Saratov Oblast
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukrainian servicemen damaged a Russian Tu-95MS strategic bomber at the Engels-2 military airfield in Saratov Oblast.

According to the Ukrainian leader, the strike was carried out by fighters of the SBU special unit "Alpha". Zelenskyy thanked the Ukrainian servicemen for their accuracy, noting that such aircraft are used for missile strikes on Ukraine.
Ukrainian monitoring channels published satellite images of the airfield, which allegedly show a Tu-95 with a severely damaged right wing. This is already the second Russian Tu-95 to be targeted by Ukrainian attacks in the last month and a half. In mid-July, another bomber was damaged at the same airfield as a result of a drone attack – its tail section was destroyed.
Engels airfield is located approximately 800 kilometers from the Ukrainian border. Tu-95MS aircraft belong to Russia's strategic aviation and are used, in particular, for launching Kh-55 cruise missiles, which have a flight range of up to 3500 kilometers. These aircraft are also capable of carrying nuclear weapons and are one of the elements of the Russian nuclear triad.
