The capital of Ukraine is creating reserves of food and drinking water in case of prolonged power outages and other emergencies, RBC-Ukraine reports.
First and foremost, the city is preparing to provide assistance to low-income Kyiv residents and people in difficult life circumstances, said Oleh Kuiavskyi, Deputy Head of the Kyiv City Administration for Self-Government Powers.
These supplies can also be used:
— in "points of invincibility" (heating/support centers) — during prolonged power outages;
— for assistance to victims of emergencies;
— for providing workers involved in emergency rescue and other urgent work.
On August 28, Minister of Agrarian Policy Taras Vysotskyi stated that Russia had destroyed 90 percent of retail chain warehouses in Ukraine.
“About 90% have already been destroyed. But at the same time, this does not mean that Ukrainians will be left without food. There is no threat of hunger,” the minister said then.
