Halina Filipauna from Hrodna, whom Lukashenka raged against nationwide in the summer of 2020, has died
Halina Andreychyk was 87 years old.
The country learned about Halina Filipauna Andreychyk six years ago, on May 29, 2020.
The 81-year-old woman, a veteran of labor, went to the square in Hrodna and gave a touching interview to Siarhei Tsikhanouski.
The blogger hugged the grandmother, and she called him "son" in return. The woman also spoke about the situation in Belarus.
"Thank you for coming out. Don't be afraid. Don't be afraid. When I die, I will still know that I took a sip of freedom. Thank you, dear, thank you, son," said the grey-haired woman during the live stream.
On the same day, Siarhei Tsikhanouski was detained as a result of a provocation, and he was released only five years later.
But on June 4, Lukashenka drew attention to Halina Filipauna, who, in his traditional contemptuous manner, spoke out about the woman who allegedly "shouted, yelled" and lived in a "palace."
"What do you lack?" he asked.
That same evening, BT aired drone footage of the woman's house and announced her property list to the whole country: an apartment in the center of Hrodna, a "cottage" — as they put it, "two unfinished fazendas," a three-year-old minivan worth at least 25 thousand dollars.
Halina Filipauna later told journalists of independent media that the harassment deeply disturbed her, and she lived on sleeping pills and sedatives.
Halina Andreychyk said that she indeed owned a house which she built in the 1990s. The house was built over 38 years, with their own hands. Relatives from Australia helped the family financially. Uncle Uladzimir and Aunt Alina emigrated there after the last war.
The woman explained that she had 52 years of work experience, teaching economic theory at Hrodna universities. During this time, she saved money, putting aside $5,000 for her funeral so that her relatives could properly say goodbye to her. In 2020, her two sons lived and worked in Russia. And the second house on the plot was being built for the next generation of the family.
Halina Andreychyk was outraged that her private property was shown by drone without permission: "Can this be done, tell me? The richer a person is, the richer the country will be."
Halina Filipauna died on July 16, 2026. She was 87 years old. She is buried in the cemetery in the village of Auls near Hrodna.
