Belarusian woman started a '40 dates' challenge, but halfway through she no longer hides her disappointment in men
Dancer and content creator Katsiaryna Liovkina is from Mahilioŭ region, but now lives in Georgia. Recently, she decided to try to address the issue of loneliness and came up with a challenge: to go on 40 dates with men.
«I am 36 years old and I decided to go on 40 first dates. Without intimacy and without expectations. The film '40 Dates, 40 Nights' inspired me to do this. I became curious if I could even meet forty strangers and what happens not in a romantic comedy, but in real life?»
However, halfway through, Katsiaryna noted that the idea itself was, apparently, unsuccessful. What upset the girl so much?
She frankly shares her experience on her Instagram blog.
The first few days of corresponding with men on dating apps, Instagram, and Threads did not lead Katsiaryna to an actual date at all.
«Instead, there were offers to sit on my face and see me 'at his place in a red dress'. Most men immediately tried to clarify if we would have sex with them. Hello, I'm inviting you to dinner, to talk – is that so difficult? Should I immediately spread my legs? Are men afraid of losing money, do they fear I'll trick them into buying a salad?»
When Katya finally managed to arrange a meeting, the man ghosted her a couple of hours before the appointed time, asking to postpone everything to the next day.
«And I managed to wash my hair in vain, disrupting my washing schedule,» Katsiaryna complains. She gave this match a second chance, but he didn't show up for the date then either.
«It was many times harder than I thought.»
Two more potential suitors immediately showed themselves to be 'red flags,' as they refused to say what they do for a living.
«They told me it wasn't important information for a first date. But what are we doing on it then, if not getting acquainted? I'm no longer at an age to solve riddles. And I don't strive to be a mystery myself.»
Katsiaryna canceled another date herself because, before it, the guy unexpectedly started asking her strange questions and dictating instructions.
«To the question about my height, I wrote that I was 172 [cm], and he said: 'Then let's go without heels.' He already started to adjust me to himself in advance.»
«If next time you want to ask me why I'm single, rewatch my videos from the '40 Dates' challenge,» the Belarusian woman says, not hiding her anger and disappointment. But for now, she doesn't lose hope that she might at least be able to see the experiment through to the end.
