"I mog you." What is this trend, even cadets in Gomel have picked up?
We had barely learned the memes about "six-seven" and wild garlic, when Generation Alpha threw us a new puzzle. What does "I mog you" mean?
Just a few months ago, few people knew about the word "to mog," but now teenagers have actively picked it up. This slang word gained popularity in July 2026 thanks to the track "I mog you," recorded by bloggers from the TSUEFA team: Zhenya Lizagub, Milana Nekrasova, David Turau, and Virsavia.
The bloggers published a video on their YouTube channel titled "Track in 5 minutes," where they pieced together that 1:21 minute song from what they had.
The lyrics of the song are simple — here's an excerpt:
"I mog you, I look above average.
You are too short, and I like tall ones.
I mog you, mo-mog you!"
The authors came up with a simple and recognizable dance for the song, which is now widely parodied on TikTok: some sources counted 1.5 million videos to the song "I mog you" by early September.
Even cadets from the Belarusian State University of Transport in Gomel participated in the trend:

So what is "to mog"? This word comes from the slang verb 'to mog,' which, translated from English, means 'to noticeably surpass someone.' Usually, it refers to appearance or character. For example, if a woman receives more compliments than her friend, she has every right to say that she "mogged" that friend.
In fact, it's a meme with a long history. In the early 2000s, pick-up artists actively used the acronym AMOG — alpha male of the group, i.e., "alpha male of the group." That's what they called the most prominent guy in a group.

Later, that word found its way into closed men's forums, where appearance was discussed, and then moved into the realm of "looksmaxing," i.e., men concerned with improving their own bodies. During this time, it was shortened to the verb 'to mog,' which young people then picked up.
