Armenia may start buying gas from former enemies. And it doesn't matter that it's cheaper in Russia
Armenia may start buying gas not only from Russia, but also from Azerbaijan, Iran, or Turkey. This was stated by the Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia, Alen Simonyan, answering a question about a possible rise in Russian gas prices.

According to the Armenian official, Yerevan does not want to simply replace dependence on one country with dependence on another. Armenia intends to seek alternative sources and maintain balance in matters of economic security.
“We intend to buy gas from everywhere it is possible. If Russia supplies us with gas, we will buy from Russia; if Azerbaijan supplies, we will buy from Azerbaijan; if Iran, from Iran. If there is an opportunity to buy gas somewhere in Turkey, we will buy from them simultaneously. Who said one should get out of one pocket and jump into another?” said Simonyan.
Responding to the remark that Russian gas is cheaper for Armenia, the Secretary of the Security Council stated that in this case, fuel is used as 'political currency.' He questioned whether the price of gas could be assessed solely in monetary terms:
“And who said that gas is cheaper? And who said that the price of gas is measured only in dollars?”
Earlier, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that Yerevan would seek an alternative to Russian gas regardless of its cost. According to him, this is due to Armenia's political decision to develop independence and statehood.
