Turkey collected all stray animals from the streets into shelters
Turkish Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi announced that the campaign to round up stray street animals has been completed in all 81 provinces of the country. They have been placed in shelters or specially created natural living zones. The care, treatment, and vaccination of the animals continue, writes Anadolu Agency.

According to the minister, the campaign was conducted in two stages. First, it started in 51 provinces that do not have the status of large urban agglomerations, and then in another 30 provinces with the status of metropolises.
Mustafa Çiftçi reported that by Wednesday, October 21, Turkey had achieved its goal: all stray animals planned for capture were taken from the streets and transported to shelters or natural living zones. The last such animal was taken into care in Diyarbakır, a city in southeastern Turkey.
As part of the campaign, municipalities and relevant services built shelters and special areas for animals. In addition to rounding up, treatment, sterilization, and rehoming were carried out.
In shelters, the health of the animals continues to be monitored, they are provided with food, and vaccinations are given. The transfer of animals to new owners is also ongoing.
