European security advisers and Boris Johnson were at the Ukrainian border crossing during the strike
The Russian army launched a series of strikes on logistics infrastructure at the Ukrainian-Polish border, narrowly missing a special train carrying high-ranking politicians. The night attack forced Polish authorities to scramble fighter jets and conduct an emergency evacuation of Western officials directly on the railway tracks.

Der Spiegel reports a targeted attack on the strategic Yagodin-Dorohusk border crossing.
The incident occurred around five in the morning at the moment when a private charter train carrying participants of the international YES security conference stopped nearby. Among the passengers evacuated due to the threat of strikes were Günter Sauter, the German Chancellor's foreign and security policy adviser, former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, as well as security advisers from France and Italy.
Drones struck the locomotive of the Kyiv-Warsaw passenger train just two kilometers from the Polish border. There were no casualties thanks to a monitoring group that warned the crew in advance of the threat. Simultaneously, drones attacked the infrastructure of the checkpoint itself, where trucks caught fire and a gas station was damaged.
The attack triggered an emergency reaction from Warsaw. Air raid sirens went off in the Polish border area, and the country's air force scrambled combat aircraft to intercept drones if they penetrated Polish airspace. German Bundestag deputy Robin Wagener, who was also on the evacuated special train, called the incident a provocation against Ukraine's allies and demanded an end to such terror on the borders of the North Atlantic Alliance.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha described the night events as a direct challenge to the West. According to him, Putin's terror is knocking directly on the doors of the EU and NATO, and Russian barbarians stand before the gates of Europe.
Since this summer, the Russian command has changed tactics, beginning to systematically destroy border infrastructure in western Ukraine. The goal of this campaign is to block exports and destroy logistical routes for aid supplies from European countries. In total, on the night of September 13, the Russian army used 453 drones of various types for strikes on Ukrainian territory, leading to the highest state of readiness for all Ukrainian railway personnel.
