Ukraine wants to resume direct talks with Russia in September

Ukraine plans to return to trilateral talks on ending the war with Russia in the autumn. This was stated by the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov.

According to Budanov, another meeting of the Ukrainian and Russian delegations could take place as early as September. The talks, as before, are expected to involve the United States as a mediator. Budanov noted that without the American side, it would be very difficult to reach an agreement.

The last round of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine to date took place on February 17-18 in Geneva. At that time, the parties failed to reach an agreement on territorial issues and security guarantees.

Switzerland has already stated its readiness to once again provide a platform for negotiations and supported any diplomatic initiatives aimed at achieving lasting peace.

The Kremlin has so far stated that it has no concrete information about the date and location of the next meeting. At the same time, Vladimir Putin's press secretary Dmitry Peskov emphasized that Russia is ready to continue the dialogue and is discussing its possibility with the American side.

Against the backdrop of stalled negotiations, there are reports of a possible escalation of the war. According to Bloomberg, Vladimir Putin may be considering intensifying missile strikes on Ukraine. At the same time, US intelligence and Ukrainian media reported on possible discussions between the US and Russia on limiting strikes on energy and port infrastructure, as well as a local ceasefire in the Sumy and Kharkiv regions.
