In the European Union, the sixth tanker linked to Russia's shadow fleet has already been detained
The European Union has detained another vessel suspected of operating as part of Russia's 'shadow fleet'. This was announced by the head of European diplomacy, Kaja Kallas.

The oil tanker MV SUN was detained in the Mediterranean Sea on August 30 by the EU naval mission IRINI. The vessel is suspected of sailing under a false flag, which may violate international maritime law. It was stopped to verify the authenticity of its flag.
Kallas stated that the illegal export of Russian oil using 'shadow fleet' vessels remains one of the important ways to finance Russia's war against Ukraine. According to her, the EU will continue to combat such activities.
This is already the sixth vessel suspected of using a false flag that has been detained in recent months by European naval forces.
The topic of combating the 'shadow fleet' will also be one of the main topics at the meeting of EU defense ministers, which will take place on September 1 in Ireland.
