Gerasimov reported to Putin about the capture of Dobropillya in Donbas. Z-bloggers refuted him
Russian Z-bloggers refuted the statement by the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Valery Gerasimov, about the complete capture of the city of Dobropillya in the Donetsk region. The day before, he had reported this to President Vladimir Putin, but the announcement drew criticism even among supporters of the Russian invasion, writes The Moscow Times.

According to Gerasimov, Dobropillya, which is an important logistical hub for Ukrainian defense, was "liberated" by units of the "Center" group. He also stated that searches and destruction of individual Ukrainian servicemen, who are allegedly hiding in building basements, are ongoing in the city. Putin called this a "significant event" that opens the way to the borders of the so-called DPR.
However, the Z-channel "Voenny Osvedomitel" (Military Informant) cast doubt not only on the statement about Dobropillya but also on other assertions by Gerasimov. According to the Russian general, the villages of Oleksiievo-Druzhkivka and Serhiivka in the Donetsk region were also captured, and in the Kharkiv region, the destruction of a two-thousand-strong group of the AFU (Armed Forces of Ukraine) that was allegedly encircled, was completed.
"Voenny Osvedomitel" published a video fragment from the Russian Ministry of Defense, which was supposed to confirm control over Dobropillya. The channel's authors stated that the video might have been created using artificial intelligence, drawing attention to the unrealistic movements of a serviceman with a Russian flag.
Another Z-blogger, Alex Parker Returns, ironically noted that Putin might have been reported again about the capture of a city that was not actually taken. He recalled previous statements by Russian military personnel regarding Sviatohirsk and Kupiansk, which also did not receive confirmation.
"Voenny Osvedomitel" also referred to an analysis by the "Dom Osinterov" channel, according to which Russian troops control the southern and a significant part of the central area of Dobropillya. However, as the authors note, this information does not indicate a stable presence of Russian military personnel in the rest of the city.
The Ukrainian OSINT project Deep State also does not confirm Russian control over Dobropillya: according to its map, the city is entirely under the control of the AFU.
Gerasimov's statement was also refuted by Z-blogger Anatoly Radov. He noted that the reports from the Russian command cause, to put it mildly, surprise among those directly on the ground.
The General Staff of the AFU also stated that the information about the capture of Dobropillya does not correspond to reality. According to Andriy Kovalov, a representative of the Ukrainian General Staff, the city remains under Ukraine's control.
