Identification of the bodies of climbers who died in Kyrgyzstan scheduled for Thursday
The identification of the bodies of two Belarusian climbers who died on Kurumdy Peak in Kyrgyzstan is scheduled for Thursday, August 27. The bodies of the deceased have already been delivered to the city of Osh. The wife of one of the deceased Belarusians has also flown there, reports Sputnik.
Contact with the group of climbers, which included 43-year-old Maksim Palyanski, 60-year-old Mikalai Svirydau, and 37-year-old Lithuanian citizen Siarhei Rubtsou, was lost on August 4 after ascending Kurumdy Peak, which is 6612.5 meters high.
According to Aliaksandr Hadleuski, head of the Belarusian Federation of Mountaineering and Sport Climbing, all circumstances of the tragedy still need to be clarified.
The ascent of Kurumdy is considered extremely difficult and requires high physical and technical preparation. The summit was first conquered only in 2001 after several unsuccessful attempts.
