Minsk Adjusts Urban Public Transport Network

Minsk continues to develop its urban public transport network and open new routes. Yury Supranovich, director of the "Stolichny Transport i Svyaz" (Capital Transport and Communications) enterprise, spoke about plans for the near future, writes the "Minsk-Novosti" agency.

One of the districts where new transport connections are appearing is the "Paŭnočny Bereh" (North Shore) microdistrict. Since July 13, a new bus route No. 186 "Akademiya Navuk (Academy of Sciences) Metro Station — International Exhibition Center" has been operating here. It was launched to redistribute passenger traffic from routes No. 26 and 26d. Articulated buses of particularly large capacity can also be used on the new route.

In the future, "Paŭnočny Bereh" is planned to be connected by a new bus route to the "Barysaŭski Trakt" Metro Station.

In Lošyca-10, the scheme of bus routes No. 3C and No. 102 will gradually change as new residential buildings are introduced. In addition, a new trolleybus route is planned to be launched along Stanislava Maniushki Street from the "Lošyca-2" dispatch station towards the railway station.

Another new route is planned to be organized along Holubieva Street. It will run from the "Liutsynskaya" turning circle to the "Adoyewskaha" dispatch station, with a stop at the "Spartyŭnaya" Metro Station.

After the opening of the overpass connecting Kaliesnikava and Ratamskaya streets, one of the bus routes is planned to be extended from the Kamiennaja Horka microdistrict towards the "Viasnianka" dispatch station.

More transport will also be available on bus route No. 11. This is due to the increase in passenger traffic in the Sukharava-8 microdistrict. In addition, a new stop will appear on routes No. 11 and No. 38.

The number of urban transport passengers in Minsk continues to grow. In the first seven months of the year, the metro transported 157.4 million passengers — 3.6% more than in the same period last year. Ground transport was used by 270.1 million passengers, which is 2.2% more than last year's figure.

Currently, 296 ground urban public transport routes operate in Minsk. During peak hours, about 1440 units of rolling stock operate on them, and on weekends — 827.
