In Minsk, a forensic medical examination has been completed regarding the death of a man born in 1993, who was urgently hospitalized with a severe chemical burn of the esophagus, according to the State Committee of Forensic Examinations.
It turned out that the man was trying to independently prepare a so-called "fizzy drink" at home, by mixing 9-percent vinegar with baking soda. However, he accidentally confused the bottles and used 70-percent acetic essence instead of a regular solution.
After consuming the mixture, the man sustained severe chemical burns to his mucous membranes. Despite prolonged treatment, doctors were unable to save him.
Experts determined that the death occurred as a result of acute poisoning, which was accompanied by chemical burns of the oropharynx, larynx, esophagus, stomach, and duodenum. The condition was complicated by multiple organ failure.
The injuries were recognized as severe, life-threatening, and they directly caused the man's death.
