Buildings of an old brewery in Lyntupy put up for sale for almost two million dollars
In the Pastavy district, a former brewery in Lyntupy has been put up for sale. For a large complex of historical and production buildings, they are asking 5,833,554 rubles — which is about 1.93 million dollars, writes domovita.by.
The enterprise is located not far from the Lithuanian border on an area of more than 6 hectares. In total, this complex includes about three dozen buildings. Once, alcohol was actively produced here, but after a serious accident 13 years ago, production was stopped, and the plant gradually turned into an abandoned industrial complex.
The history of the enterprise began back in the days when Lyntupy was owned by the nobleman-entrepreneur Juzef Biszewski. In the early 20th century, he founded a large red-brick distillery here, which later became a full-fledged brewery. A legend about Biszewski has been preserved in Lyntupy, claiming that he invested a lot of money in the development of the estate to impress a French actress he was in love with. However, the actress eventually moved to Paris, and the nobleman remained a bachelor.
In addition to the distillery, Biszewski established a park with ponds in Lyntupy, founded a beer brewery, and built a smokehouse-tower, the image of which is now on the local coat of arms.
After 1939, the plant continued to operate and became a state-owned enterprise during the Soviet era. At its peak, it produced over 600 thousand decaliters of alcohol per year.
However, about 13 years ago, a serious accident occurred at the enterprise: a tank exploded in the rectification shop. After this, production was stopped, the buildings were mothballed, and the plant began to gradually decline.
Now, a complex spanning over 6 hectares is up for sale. The largest object is the production building, covering an area of more than 6200 square meters. In addition to it, the lot includes an administrative building, several grain warehouses, a boiler room, an alcohol storage facility, an old canteen, a stable, and a small shop. The total area of all buildings exceeds 13 thousand square meters.
The territory has four private artesian wells, electrical networks, heating pipes, and sewerage. The new owner will also receive 68 units of equipment remaining in the production shops.
Electronic bidding will take place on the Gostorg platform. Applications will be accepted until September 21, and the auction itself will begin on September 22. To participate, a deposit of 10% of the initial price — 583,355 rubles — must be paid.
If only one participant comes to the bidding, they will be able to acquire the complex at the initial price, increased by 5%. The buildings are transferred to private ownership, and the land plot — for permanent use.
At the same time, the future owner will have to take into account the historical value of some of the objects. Some buildings have the status of historical and cultural heritage, so their reconstruction or significant changes will need to be coordinated with the Ministry of Culture.
