Three dishes and more convenience foods. How school meals in Minsk will change
Meals will be organized into three blocks, formed not by age, but by grade levels.

Starting from the new academic year, approaches to organizing school meals in secondary education institutions are changing. Marina Ilyina, chairperson of the Education Committee of the Minsk City Executive Committee, spoke about this, Minsk-News reports.
Previously, the school meal system was oriented towards two age groups: 6 to 10 years old and 11 to 18 years old. Now, according to Marina Ilyina, the approach has become more differentiated. Meals will be organized into three blocks, formed not by age, but by grade levels: first—fifth, sixth—eighth, and ninth—eleventh grades.
In addition, a unified approach is being implemented at the national level. For single meals, students in the first shift will receive a second breakfast, and those in the second shift will receive an afternoon snack, which will include a specific set of dishes: a salad, a hot dish, and a drink.
— Throughout the past year, we searched for new approaches, tested various dishes, and expanded the list of permitted convenience foods. But I want to reassure parents immediately: all convenience foods used in educational institutions are intended for children's nutrition, — explained the chairperson of the Education Committee of the Minsk City Executive Committee.
Another notable innovation will be the expansion of the experiment with vending machines, which was successfully conducted in Minsk last year. The speaker emphasized that products from vending machines will not replace main meals.
— This is an opportunity to additionally purchase products intended for children's nutrition: juice, some other drink, cookies. The list is quite limited, and we strictly control the observance of expiration dates and storage conditions, — summarized Marina Ilyina.
