"Continued driving with a raised body." In Rechytsa district, a truck damaged an overpass under strange circumstances
The accident occurred around 4 AM on August 31st on the M-10 highway in the Rechytsa district. According to information from the State Automobile Inspectorate, a "Dongfeng" truck was moving with its body raised and caught a concrete slab of an overpass on the Zhmurauka — Haroshkau road, writes "Flagstock".
As a result of the accident, the 35-year-old driver sustained fractures and was hospitalized in intensive care. It was later reported that his life is not in danger, but he continues treatment in the Rechytsa hospital. The overpass itself also sustained significant damage.
According to a "Flagstock" source familiar with the circumstances of the incident, it all might have started with a sound coming from a wheel. The driver reportedly heard something suspicious, decided to check if everything was okay, and for this purpose, raised the truck bed. After that, according to this version, he forgot to lower the truck bed and continued driving.
As a result, the dump truck crashed into the overpass at speed. The situation seems quite unusual because when moving with a raised truck bed, the vehicle should have become less stable, and it is presumed that corresponding warning signals should have activated in the cabin.
The truck was transporting sand extracted in the Rechytsa district. The dump truck belongs to a private enterprise that won a tender for the supply of sand for one of the projects.
The extent of the serious damage sustained by the overpass has not yet been officially reported.
