On September 2, historian Andrei Salavyanau, a leading research fellow at the Academy of Public Administration under the President and former long-time academic secretary of the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, suddenly passed away. He was only 45 years old.

Andrei Salavyanau was born on November 28, 1980, in Vitebsk. In 2003, he graduated from the Faculty of History of Vitebsk State University named after P. M. Masherov. From 2003-2006, he pursued full-time postgraduate studies at BSU (Belarusian State University) specializing in "national history".
After completing his postgraduate studies in 2007, he joined the Institute of History of NASB (National Academy of Sciences of Belarus) — initially as a junior research fellow, and later as a research fellow. From 2012 to 2022, he served as the academic secretary of this institution. From 2011-2015, he headed the Council of Young Scientists of the institute.
From 2007 to 2012, he also worked part-time as a lecturer at the Department of Philosophy and Political Science at the Belarusian State Medical University.
In 2022, he moved to work at the Academy of Public Administration under the President, whose rector at that time was Vyacheslav Danilovich, the former director of the Institute of History of NASB. There, he held the position first as a senior, and later as a leading research fellow at the Research Institute of Theory and Practice of Public Administration.
His scientific activity was related to the history of the BSSR (Belarusian Soviet Socialist Republic) in the 1920s. He also researched issues of public education and social policy in the Republic of Belarus from 1991-2010.
In 2008, he defended his dissertation "Social Protection of the Younger Generation in the BSSR (1921-1930)", and based on it, in 2013, he published the book "Social Protection of Minors in the BSSR (1921-1930)". He was the author of over 100 scientific works.

"Андрей Соловьянов выпустил более 100 научных работ. Он также стал одним из шести авторов учебника по истории Беларуси для 11-го класса для школ с РУССКИМ языком обучения. «Учебный процесс в школах имел прогерманскую направленность. В каждом классе вывешивался портрет Гитлера, украшенный с двух сторон бело-красно-белыми лентами. Обязательным приветствием были слова „Жыве Беларусь“ (как аналог приветствия „Хайль Гитлер“ для местных жителей»).
