In Grodno district, a 51-year-old gamekeeper, according to the Investigative Committee, accidentally shot a 48-year-old acquaintance. The man placed a loaded carbine on his lap without putting the weapon on safety.

On the evening of September 2, a group of men went into the forest for a permitted hunt. When they spotted a roe deer and began to prepare for a shot, the gamekeeper noticed that the battery in the scope was dead.
The man returned to the car, sat in the driver's seat, and placed the loaded carbine on his lap. As he was removing the protective cap from the scope, an accidental shot occurred.
The shot hit his 48-year-old acquaintance, who died from the injuries sustained, the Investigative Committee reported.
A criminal case was initiated against the gamekeeper for causing death by negligence.
