Zelensky's plane was not the target of the drone, the aircraft was on the ground in Chișinău
Speaker of the Moldovan Parliament Igor Grosu refutes information that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's plane was almost shot down by a drone during takeoff from Chișinău International Airport, writes Noi.md.
Yesterday, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre claimed that the plane on which Zelensky was supposed to travel to Norway for King Harald V's funeral "almost collided" with a drone during takeoff from Moldova.
Igor Grosu stated that at the moment the drone entered the airspace of the Republic of Moldova, the aircraft was on the ground and had not yet begun the takeoff procedure.
"The plane was on the ground, it was not taking off. After the drone left our airspace, the plane departed," Igor Grosu said.
Moldovan authorities clarified that the presidential plane was at the airport when the airspace was temporarily closed after a Russian drone penetrated from Ukraine.
According to authorities, the drone fell and exploded approximately 160 kilometers from Chișinău.
After the incident was confirmed, flight restrictions were lifted, and delayed flights resumed.
