«I'm a f***-up, that's why I went.» Young Belarusian abandoned pregnant wife and went to war, then cheated on her and died
The story of 24-year-old nurse Volha Zaytsava and her Belarusian husband Mikita could become the plot for a dramatic series. The guy, who promised to be an ideal father, first got into debt, started drinking and gambling in a casino, then fled from his pregnant wife to war, found another girl there, and as a result — went missing. Now the official wife is looking in thematic chats for how to receive monetary compensation for his death.

Volha Zaytsava is 24 years old, she is from Homiel. Judging by photos on social media, the girl works as a nurse.
Her husband Mikita is a year younger. It is known that he studied in a cadet class in Homiel.
The relationship between Volha and Mikita began about seven years ago. Soon after, a son was born.
Family life eventually turned into a nightmare. Mikita earned little, but started drinking and gambling in casinos, got into debt, and took out loans. When their son was about to turn five, Volha couldn't take it anymore and suggested a divorce. Mikita proudly left. But two weeks later, the girl found out she was pregnant again.

A month later, Mikita reappeared with unexpected news: to settle his financial problems and prove that he wasn't «living off his mother,» he signed a contract to participate in the «SMO» (Special Military Operation).

Despite deep resentment, his wife forgave him, went alone for ultrasounds, and continued to wait. However, the man repaid her in his own way: at some point, he simply stopped communicating, began to ignore messages, and blacklisted Volha. He didn't even call to congratulate their older son on his fifth birthday.
Soon everything fell into place — in July, Mikita posted a photo on social media with a new girlfriend against the backdrop of the Russian flag. «The person simply chose to start a new life, forgot about the children in an instant. And didn't even file for divorce,» Volha complained with tears.

But Mikita's «new life» turned out to be very short. Already in August, Volha started writing in specific Russian communities for those awaiting relatives from the war.
Her messages indicate that from mid-August, the Belarusian completely disappeared from radar and received the official status of missing in action. Fellow servicemen informed the woman that Mikita had died, but his body was somehow not evacuated.
Now his abandoned wife is forced to clarify further legal nuances in chats: how to prove death without a body and what financial payments for Mikita are due to her and their children.
In total, over 500 Belarusians, lured by promises of easy money, have already died or gone missing while serving in the Russian army in the aggressive war in Ukraine. As military experts have calculated, the average lifespan of a Russian mercenary at the front is several months, and in assault units — several weeks.
Experts have calculated that in four years of war, Russia has lost a total of about 400,000 servicemen killed, and over a million have been wounded.
