In Berlin, police freed a woman who was held hostage by a criminal in a Rewe supermarket for over 11 hours. In the morning, around 9:20, special forces stormed the store, quickly apprehending the assailant and freeing the hostage, Bild reports .

During the operation, special forces used an electroshock device, after which they were able to neutralize the criminal. The woman was escorted to a safe place under police protection. According to law enforcement, she experienced severe stress and is in a state of shock. The attacker sustained minor injuries, after which he was carried out on a stretcher.
The incident occurred the previous evening before the supermarket closed. The man was the last customer. One of the store employees reported that at first, he refused to place items on the checkout conveyor belt, and then unexpectedly pulled out a large knife and seized the cashier. The witness managed to escape, while his colleague remained with the criminal.
After the hostage-taking was reported, police deployed special forces, a K-9 unit, and other personnel to the scene. Negotiators spent several hours trying to persuade the armed man to surrender, but without success.
