Two Minsk residents "scammed" a foreigner out of 130 thousand dollars
A citizen of one of the East Asian countries became a victim of large-scale fraud.
According to the police, two Minsk residents, aged 31 and 36, offered a foreigner a service — to exchange cash dollars for cryptocurrency.
The man handed them a package of money. However, the accomplices subtly swapped it for an identical package, but with fake banknotes. Pretending to count the money, the fraudsters expressed outrage, as if the foreigner was trying to pay them with counterfeits.
After that, they refused the deal and quickly disappeared with the foreigner's real money.
The amount of losses totaled 130 thousand dollars. Police officers detained the suspects. Part of the stolen money was confiscated from them and returned to the owner.
A criminal case was opened against the men for fraud on a particularly large scale. The Minsk residents face up to 12 years in prison.
