Minister of Defense Viktor Khrenin, in a conversation with journalists, denied information that the Belarusian side is allegedly building fortifications on the border with Ukraine, writes BelTA.
Viktor Khrenin called "such misinformation" an information war being waged against Belarus.
"We, of course, heard this and look at it with a smile. These statements that we are preparing some defensive areas... We perfectly understand that this is done with only one goal: to create tension in our society, and in the Ukrainian one too, driving a wedge and making us fierce enemies. This does not correspond to any reality," he emphasized.
The Minister reminded that earlier Lukashenka had instructed to equip fortified areas along the borders of Belarus.
"This instruction has been fulfilled. Five fortified areas along the western and northern borders have been equipped, and their active improvement is underway. On the southern border, there are no plans even to create any fortified areas, defensive lines," he said.
