A drone flew into Bulgaria and exploded

"One thing is clear: the drone was carrying a significant amount of explosives," the country's prime minister stated.

Prime Minister Rumen Radev announced that a drone exploded on Bulgarian territory approximately 100 meters from the border with Romania. The prime minister stated this after a Security Council meeting in Sofia.

According to him, the drone exploded directly near the Kardam border crossing on the border with Romania, in the northeast of the country, near the Black Sea coast, approximately 1000 meters from the Trans-Balkan gas pipeline compressor station.

There were no casualties or material damage.

Bulgarian border police officers and the Ministry of Defense are working to determine the origin of the drone, Radev reported.

After the explosion, the drone fell into a sunflower field, the prime minister added.

The drone's noise was recorded by the Romanian border police, and then a Bulgarian border police patrol registered a powerful explosion, after which thick black smoke rose, Radev reported.

"One thing is clear: the drone was carrying a significant amount of explosives, considering it could be heard from a great distance and that so much black smoke rose after the explosion," he said.
