Secret funeral held for general in Moscow after explosion at Balzi Rossi restaurant
A general major's funeral was held under heightened secrecy at Troyekurovskoye Cemetery in Moscow. According to unofficial reports, he may have died in the explosion at the Balzi Rossi restaurant. This was reported by the Telegram channel "VCHK-OGPU".
Reportedly, security measures at the cemetery were tightened from early morning. Officers of the Federal Protective Service of Russia were on duty there, and several buses with Rosgvardia fighters arrived. Entry to the territory was restricted, and cars were checked by traffic police officers and people in civilian clothes. Visitors were allowed through metal detectors.
The funeral procession was accompanied by an honor guard with the flag of the Russian Aerospace Forces, but a flag of the Ground Forces was placed near the prepared grave.
According to eyewitnesses, a "quite young" general major was buried. During the ceremony, it was allegedly discussed that the deceased might have been a friend of the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Aerospace Forces, General Alexander Chaiko, and was present at the celebration of his 55th birthday at the Balzi Rossi restaurant.
An explosion at the Balzi Rossi restaurant in Moscow occurred on the evening of August 1. Initially, it was reported that a gas leak might have been the cause, but later the Russian National Antiterrorist Committee stated that an explosive device, which a woman tried to carry in disguised as a gift, had detonated in the restaurant.
As a result of the explosion, five people died, and at least 19 others were injured.
According to unofficial information, the potential target of the attack could have been General Alexander Chaiko himself, whom Ukrainian authorities accuse of involvement in war crimes in Bucha. His condition after the explosion is unknown. It is reported that his son-in-law Daniil Peredry died during the incident, and his 25-year-old daughter Maria Chaiko may have been injured.
