Number of victims from explosion at a Moscow elite restaurant, during the anniversary of the general who commanded the 2022 offensive on Kyiv from Belarus, rises to five people
The aftermath of the terrorist attack at Moscow's Balzi Rossi restaurant is escalating.
Two injured individuals have died in hospital, bringing the total number of fatalities to five, channel 112 reported. At least six more people remain in serious condition.
The explosion occurred during a closed event — the celebration of the 55th anniversary of the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Aerospace Forces, General Alexander Chaiko.
According to «VChK-OGPU», among the invited guests were the general's comrades-in-arms, officials, State Duma deputies, and FSB officers.
The security of the event was provided by employees of the Federal Protective Service (FSO). The explosion occurred on the restaurant's veranda when a female courier approached the establishment with a beautifully wrapped box.
She was stopped by a security guard, likely an FSO officer from the security detail. At that very moment, the explosive device detonated. The perpetrator of the explosion herself, an FSO officer, and one of the establishment's visitors died on the spot; two more died later in the hospital. General Chaiko himself, according to available information, survived.
Ukrainian law enforcement agencies accuse units subordinate to Chaiko of war crimes committed since 2022, including in Bucha, Kyiv region. Until July 2022, before taking command of the Russian aviation, Chaiko commanded the troops of the Eastern Military District — precisely those that advanced on Kyiv from Belarus.
