Former political prisoner Nasta Loika reunited with her dog — after almost four years

Erik is already 10. He lived with Nasta's friends in Czechia.

Human rights activist and former political prisoner Nasta Loika met her dog Erik — after almost four years.

«Erik was a bit restless beforehand. He recognized that we knew each other, but didn't remember the extent. He offered his belly after half an hour.

He is already 10 years old, limps a little, but otherwise the dog has a wonderful, best life with cool people. We wish everyone such a life,» — wrote Nasta on Instagram.

Nasta Loika was arrested in October 2022 and released in March 2026 as a result of a visit by an American delegation to Minsk. While Nasta was behind bars, her dog went to her friends in Czechia. Upon release, she couldn't visit him immediately because she was waiting for documents. Nasta once adopted Erik from a shelter.
