KGB officers detained businessman Dmitry Mizgir in Belarus, who had been on Russia's wanted list for three months. The detention occurred after the man attempted to leave the country via Belarus.
He was tracked by phone conversations and street surveillance cameras. The man has already been handed over to Russia.
Mizgir is accused of large-scale fraud as part of a group. He is considered a key link in the scheme of supplying 170 tons of low-quality canned meat to the "SVO" zone. The total damage is estimated at 700 million Russian rubles (8.6 million dollars).
The canned goods were produced at the "Selyatino" plant near Moscow. Instead of proper meat, they contained pork carcass trimmings, lard, and prohibited food additives.
According to the investigation, he was an intermediary between the producers and the Russian Ministry of Defense. Bribes were transferred through Mizgir (5 Russian rubles from each can of tushonka, totaling approximately 120 thousand dollars).
Mizgir faces up to 10 years in prison under the article on fraud (and up to 15 years if the charges are reclassified as bribery). He himself does not admit guilt.
Two more people remain on the wanted list in this case — Artyom Baryshkov, general director of the "Selyatino" plant, and technologist Zinaida Grishchuk.
