"I am a KGB officer, you will have problems." A Minsk resident wanted to file a complaint at an optics store, but the employee showed her ID

A story from a Minsk optics store went viral on Threads. A customer there asked for a book of comments and suggestions, but the employee in response showed her an ID, introduced herself as a KGB officer, and promised "problems" if the customer didn't stop. Many readers didn't believe the story was true. But it turned out that she was indeed a former KGB agent.

The story took place in the capital's "Fantastic" optics store on Nalibotskaya Street, 36.

The author of the post said that she had visited the store four times and each time encountered various problems. The last time she picked up her ready glasses and again found some error in the work.

"After that, the employee started calling me. Many times in a row. So much so that I simply couldn't physically use my phone normally. I said after the first call: 'I will come to the store, and we will discuss everything on the spot.' I arrive. Naturally, I'm already boiling with anger because I couldn't use my phone for half an hour due to the endless calls from the salesperson. But I don't cause a scandal. I just say: 'Please give me the book of comments and suggestions. I want to leave a complaint'," the woman recounts.

In response, the store employee, Svetlana, showed her some kind of ID. "And says that she is a KGB officer. And then: 'You will have problems'."

Taken by surprise and indignation, the Minsk resident didn't immediately know what to do or how to respond.

"I came to an optics store. Not for an interrogation. Not to a special service. Not to commit a crime. I came as a customer who had accumulated complaints about the quality of service from employee Svetlana. And I want to leave a complaint. An ordinary complaint about a store employee! And in response, they show me an ID and say: 'I am a KGB officer, if you write a complaint – you will have problems'."

The woman said she was shocked by the threats. "It's one thing if the store provided poor service. But it's quite another when they show you an ID of a state body and effectively tell you: 'Don't complain. Otherwise, you'll regret it'."

The woman was not sure if Svetlana was actually a KGB officer.

She still left a complaint in the book of comments and suggestions. She also filed complaints with the police and the KGB.

And also called the network's administration.

"I then called the store's main office with the question: 'Can a KGB officer really work for you?', to which I was told 'Yes',"

and the store management later contacted me and stated that her husband is 100% in the KGB, and about her [Svetlana] it's unknown," she wrote.

But a day later, the Minsk resident gave her readers on Threads a precise answer.

Not only her husband, but Svetlana herself is a KGB officer, albeit retired.

"News for this hour: the ID is real, Svetlana turned out to be a retired officer. Funnily enough, she said in her testimony that she simply told me: 'I am a former employee, respect authority!' Interestingly: Svetlana said that I insulted her, although in the store I was silent and simply asked for the complaint book. Sadly: that she is a former employee and it's unclear how this will end."
