Turkey requested Interpol's permission to arrest Netanyahu. This was announced by Turkey's Minister of Justice, Akin Gürlek, reports CNN Türk.
Arrest requests against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, as well as Israeli Navy Commander Afek Moskovich, were sent "for crimes against activists of the 'Global Sumud' flotilla, including genocide and crimes against humanity."
The conflict surrounding the 'Global Sumud' flotilla arose after Israeli forces intercepted an international humanitarian convoy vessel carrying cargo for the Gaza Strip in international waters of the Mediterranean Sea, detaining human rights activists and Turkish citizens who were on board.
In response to this, an Istanbul court, acting on lawsuits filed by the affected activists, initiated a criminal case against 35 Israeli officials and military personnel, led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, accusing them of genocide and crimes against humanity, and issued arrest warrants for them.
