The target was an electrical substation in the municipality of Turnow-Preilack. On the morning of September 1, employees reported damage to several overhead lines to the police. Approximately 40 minutes later, suspicious objects were found at the scene, after which sappers were called.

According to Bild newspaper, homemade rockets might have been used, but the police have not yet confirmed this information.

An unusual explosive-incendiary device, which did not detonate, was also found near the power plant. The Brandenburg State Criminal Police Office is leading the investigation.

There were no casualties, and no serious consequences for the population were recorded. Power supply was not interrupted, although network operator 50Hertz reported a brief disruption in electricity supply.

The Jänschwalde coal-fired power plant is the largest facility of its kind in Brandenburg. Its installed capacity is approximately 1500 MW.
